Steps

Place eggs in a medium pot and cover with cold water by 1 inch. Bring to a rolling boil, then cover the pot and turn off the heat. Let the eggs cook, covered, for 9 to 12 minutes, depending on your desired done-ness (see photo).
Transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water and chill for 14 minutes. This makes the eggs easier to peel. Peel and enjoy!

As a kid, my mom would hard boil eggs for after school snacks or even to pack in my lunch box with a little note telling me to have a good day...😀...she would put the egg into an egg slicer and sprawl out the 8 little slices like a hand of poker...but here's the difference...she taught me to put each slice of egg in between to slices of pepperoni! SO GOOD! I eat them like that to this day. TRY IT SOMETIME!

The secret to making easy to peel hard boiled eggs is to tap the bottom of the egg with a spoon just enough to crack the shell as you put the eggs into the water before heating. The lining of the shell will keep the egg intact as it cooks and the peel will come off smoothly after the ice bath.
