Cream butter, sugar and brown sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes. Add eggs, vanilla and lemon juice, blending with mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then medium speed for about 2 minutes, or until light and fluffy, scraping down bowl.
With mixer on low speed, add flour, oats, baking soda, salt and cinnamon, blending for about 45 seconds. Don’t overmix. Remove bowl from mixer and stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.
Portion dough with a scoop (about 3 tablespoons) onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper about 2 inches apart.
Preheat oven to 300°F. Bake for 20 to 23 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and center is still soft. Remove from oven and cool on baking sheet for about 1 hour.

Lisa on 2026-05-09 (5 stars): This has been my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe for years; it would be challenging to find better. It's easiest to make with a stand mixer with a paddle attachment and the cookies freeze very well.
J. on 2025-09-07 (5 stars): Never had the actual double tree cookies, but tried this recipe and it was a hit with kids and adults. I used salted butter & divided the dough in half using 3/4 c choc chips for one batch & 3/4 c m&ms for the other. Refrigerated the dough over night before baking. It's a keeper recipe!

Jacqui DeBono on 2020-05-02 (5 stars): I really like the idea of being able to freeze the uncooked cookies, so I can make double or triple the amount, make all the mess in one go and freeze the made up cookies to bake another time! I have only had the Hilton cookies once, but I am sure these are delicious!
