Steps
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Lightly spray an 8x8 baking dish (not a 9x9 dish or your brownies will overcook) with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper. Spray the parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, and salt.
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, olive oil, water, and vanilla.
Sprinkle the dry mix over the wet mix and stir until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan (it'll be thick - that's ok) and use a spatula to smooth the top. Bake for 40 to 48 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with only a few crumbs attached (note: it's better to pull the brownies out early than to leave them in too long). Cool completely before slicing.*** Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. These also freeze well!

Aydan on 2026-08-20 08:52:55 (5 stars): These were good! I tweaked the recipe slightly to accommodate what I had in hand. I used half butter half coconut oil melted. My spoon is not big, so I as added a few extra spoons of water ( also because the liquid looked not enough for the mix, hence extra water) and I cut the sugar down to 1 cup- used raw & omitted powdered sugar. Also added a spoonful of extra choc chips. In 30 minutes, they were done! Deliciously crispy on the edges and top. Not too gooey in the middle but just soft. We served them with strawberries. Next time I will reduce baking to 25 minutes. See how it goes!

If you haven't tried the recipe yet, I recommend using canola oil if you aren't into olive oil because the olive oil really comes out.
It's very easy and it's always lovely to eat with a scoop of vanilla!
Thank you so much for this recipe!

Danica on 2026-08-13 22:47:23 (5 stars): Made this with my husband, we opted for the olive oil and reduced sugar adjustments (and no chocolate chips added) - brownies came out so decadent with a great crust on top. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.
Siana on 2026-08-13 00:55:40 (5 stars): I love love love this recipe, and so does my family! This recipe in particular is always requests, so thanks for sharing Michelle’s recipe! I personally use a little less powdered sugar and it still turns out PERFECT.
Polly on 2026-08-12 13:46:57 (5 stars): Ma'am you DO realize brown sugar will change the flavor completely. And flour doesnt serve the same purpose as... cornstarch try again.
(Ps. Reduce the sugar. Dont replace it with brown. Keep the flour.)
Kaila Klassen on 2026-08-11 22:40:44 (5 stars): It’s supposed to be white CHOCOLATE chips not chicken chips 🤣🤣🤌🏻. Good old autocorrect 🤦🏻♀️.
Robyn on 2026-08-09 02:32:15 (5 stars): OMG I looooove this recipe sooooo much! Comes out perfect and super delicious every single time! I honestly make this like once a month, everyone loves it! I swap the water for milk and I crack a bit of salt on the top before it goes into the oven.
Im struggling to understand the people who said theirs came out awful.... unfortunately not everyone can bake even if they follow the exact recipe so genuinely sad to see those comments.
Best chocolate brownie recipe xxx
Jazzy on 2026-08-06 17:26:06 (5 stars): BESSTT RECIPIE EVEEERR. I recently found out you can use a mix of granulated and brown sugar or fully brown sugar. Unfortunately I cannot try my own brownies but the response from people I gave them too were very good
KristinJG on 2026-08-02 23:01:36 (5 stars): These are so good. Thank you
