People are central to all changes. In IT that is the key reason many projects stall or fail. Moving without working with the people to understand the value of the change and helping them learn the new capabilities is a recipe for problems. Moving from VMWare to OpenShift Virtualization shows this same challenge work with the people. One project I worked with the team selected the hardest to move VM to start with to work out the project and how long it would take. Doing this caused the project to fail which is what the team wanted. The second approach started by someone who was not against change, was to review the inventory and see what could move easily and what would be more challenging. This approach also included more focus on training the individuals. The second time it worked. People make the difference. As is discussed in the artical below the technology is there, we need to bring the people along.
