Steps
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, powder and salt.
In the bowl of your electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 5 full minutes. Beat in each egg one at a time. Beat in the vanilla extract.
Add the dry ingredients and beat on low speed until just combined, scraping the bottom of the bowl if needed. Stir in the shredded coconut and macadamia nuts until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Scoop out 1 1/2-inch sized balls of dough and place them on the parchment paper, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until the cookies are just golden on the edges. Let the cookies cool for 10 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack.
To make ahead: I scoop the dough into rounds and place it on a baking sheet. Flash freeze (freeze the sheet as is) for 30 minutes, then remove the dough balls and place them in a resealable bag. Remove when needed and bake as directed, adding 1 to 2 minutes to the bake time.

Rod R. on 2024-12-18 (4 stars): Strange that identical recipes from other sites average 4.4 stars, while this one rates a solid 5? I agree it's a well-deserved 4* but nothing more because this recipe is a simple, very basic chocolate chip recipe with a cup of shredded coconut in it. It needs at least twice that to become anything even close to the Nordstrom version. Meh, they're good, but only because they were a chocolate chip cookie first.
Katie on 2023-09-14 (5 stars): These continue to be one of the best cookie recipes I have encountered! I always get great results. I have made them with macadamia nuts. I have made them with pecans. I have made them with walnuts. They always turn out delicious!
Donna Richshafer on 2023-02-05 (2 stars): The cookies did not spread out . They are mound shape rather then flat. Not sure what went wrong. I consider myself a really good baker, so I am disappointed in the outcome
Courtney Lynn on 2022-10-27 (5 stars): Oh and for anyone else wondering if using white choc chips instead is a good idea.... YES! I'm not a big fan of milk choc so I substituted white choc chips and they turned out PERFECT!
Doris from Connecticut on 2022-10-08 (5 stars): Love this cookie, gtrat old receipe, thanks for sharing.
April on 2022-05-19 (5 stars): I have never had a Nordstrom cookie, but these are wonderful. The chocolate chips, macademia nuts and coconut are hiding inside the cookies, so they look pretty plain sitting on a plate, but when you bite into them, what a nice surprise! I don't bake a lot of cookies, but this recipe is definitely a keeper.
Jess Block on 2021-12-29 (5 stars): I’m obsessed with these cookies from
Nordstrom so when I found this recipe I was thrilled, but the first couple times I made them, my cookies DID NOT come out like the picture at all. I’ve found that when I make cookies in Florida where my in laws live the humidity requires recipes to be adjusted. I’m not sure where you are located but living in Southern California I had to adjust this recipe to get my cookies to look like the picture. Instead of using 3 cups of flour, I used 2 1/4 cups flour and cooked for 12 mins and they turned out perfectly! Had to share since it took me 3 tries to get there! Very happy with the end result!
Tory on 2021-05-18 (5 stars): Thank you for this. I had my first yesterday and went to the store at night to get macadamia nuts, coconut, and semi sweet chips. I'm making these asap. I already know they're great because your recipe has everything a great cookie should. Thanks again!!!!!
Sarah on 2021-02-06 (5 stars): I used unsweet coconut and a smaller scoop, cook time was 11 min and they were perfect! Made about 6 dozen! Everyone loved them! Thank you, this is my new favorite cookie!
