1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Steps
Arrange one of the pie crusts into the bottom of a deep dish pie pan.
Fill the pie shell with the apples.
In a medium pot, whisk together sugar, flour, salt, water, and apple cider vinegar.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
Remove from heat, and add butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and Fireball whiskey.
Pour mixture evenly over the apples.
Arrange the top crust, and pinch edges to seal. Prick with a fork.
Bake at 400 degrees for 45-50 minutes, or until pie is golden brown, and the apples feel soft when a toothpick is inserted near the center.
Remove to a wire rack to cool.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Sarah A. on 2022-11-24 (5 stars): This has become a holiday meal staple in our family! Can’t beat the taste and how easy it is to make.
Each time I make it, I end up with the caramel sauce boiling out of my pie and all over the place. Can you describe how thick the sauce is supposed to be before removing it from the heat? I think that’s where I’m going wrong.
Judy on 2019-07-14 (5 stars): This is a really good pie. Great with an oatmeal
crumb topping too. Thank you for this recipe. We'll use it many times.
