Steps
Open the package of tofu. Drain off any excess water. Do not press or dry it.
With your hands, tear the tofu into irregular bite sized chunks and place in a bowl.
Add the seasonings and toss well to coat. Cook immediately. Don't let it sit.
To air fry - Add the tofu to the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 20 minutes or until super crunchy and golden, tossing halfway. If you have an air fryer basket that food tends to stick to a bit, brush the bottom surface with a tiny bit of oil before adding the tofu.
To bake - Spread out on a lined baking tray and bake at 425°F (218°C) for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Cindy on 2026-07-15 (5 stars): Just made this for my family and it was a hit!
Has anyone tried freezing these little gems either before or after cooking them? Would love to make ahead and reheat as needed.

Jason on 2026-05-11 (5 stars): This tofu recipe turned out great! We used the air fryer and all the pieces were very crispy, and very easy to make! No pressing and just tearing into chunks. Highly recommend giving it a try. Thank you for sharing!
Cynthia on 2026-05-10 (5 stars): So good, it immediately made it into our weekly rotation! The first time, I made it as directed - the second time I pressed the tofu and marinated in broth and a bit of tamari first. It was excellent both ways. Thanks for sharing the recipe - much appreciated!
LynD on 2026-05-09 (5 stars): This is THE best tofu I've ever made in 8 years! Not kidding, I got so use to eating soft tofu even when it was super firm, just for the protein. So easy to make too. I ate almost 1/2 the pan with my fingers just waiting for it to cool down. The best part...I got hubby to try it ( dowsed in Frank's Hot Sauce like a "wing") but it's the 1st time ever! Thank you 🤗
Susan on 2026-04-28 (5 stars): I love this recipe. Simple and delicious. We eat it a few times/week. Thank you.
Kirsten on 2026-04-21 (5 stars): I just made this tonight. Total game changer for tofu! It will be my go to recipe!
Barb Wright on 2026-04-17 (5 stars): We love nutritional yeast on our popcorn and things - so not a shock that we loved the flavor. But this was a huge hit. My 11 year old and I ate the whole block. The tearing for nooks and crannies was a great tip.
